Windows and doors not on escape routes must be assessed according to three essential characteristics: load bearing; dangerous substances; and thermal transmittance. Visual’s extensive product range supplied by our manufacturer Conservatory Outlet has been assessed in this manner and each individual product comfortably meets the essential characteristic requirements of BS EN 14351-1:2006+A1:2010 (Annex ZA), also known as ‘Windows and external pedestrian doorsets without resistance to fire and/or smoke leakage characteristics.’
As proof of our compliance, and for your added peace of mind, you will find a Declaration of Performance (DoP) for each of our products.
The thermal transmittance performance data in each case is based on the “worst case scenario” - i.e. the most basic product specification - and the results should not be interpreted as relevant to the standard required by the British Fenestration Rating Council Energy Rating scheme or Document L of the Building Regulations. The U-values for these standards are calculated differently to the European Standards and cannot be used for CE marking. Our products, where appropriate, will continue to be licensed under the BFRC scheme and meet the current UK Building Regulation standards. In many cases the actual and achievable thermal transmittance performance of our products is far better than stated on the DoP’s as a result of the enhanced specification used to satisfy UK Building Regulations and achieve BFRC A-rated, B-rated and C-rated products.
